The Bears hired Martz as their offensive coordinator during the offseason, and no tight end under Martz has caught more than 38 passes in a season. Olsen led the Bears with 60 catches in 2009, but his blocking has been suspect.
So when the Bears brought in tight end Brandon Manumaleuna, who's known as a strong blocker, Olsen's future with the Bears seemed murky.
There were reports that Olsen was unhappy with his situation on the Bears.
"So far I have a great feeling about my role this year," Olsen tweeted Friday. "I have no desire to play anywhere but in Chicago.
"That was purely media speculation."
Olsen recently attended voluntary workouts at Halas Hall, and he tweeted that the Bears have "almost full participation" at the workouts. He wrote that it reflects the Bears' commitment to improve in 2010.
As far as responding to criticism of his blocking, Olsen tweeted that the perception has been blown out of proportion, and he said he would put his blocking against that of any other pass-catching tight end.
Bears coach Lovie Smith said he's talked to Olsen during the offseason and consulted him during Martz's interview process, and during the time leading to the signing of Manumaleuna.
Smith said Olsen's role should continue to increase with the Bears.
