It's a trend that dates back more than a decade and spans four head coaching tenures. It seems to only be getting worse under Wade Phillips, as the Cowboys have lost five of their last six games played in the calendar's final month.
Yet that recent history didn't concern Jones as he walked toward the team bus after the Cowboys' 31-24 loss Sunday to the New York Giants.
"I don't look at this in any way as an indictment of this team relative to some kind of December trend," Jerry said. "I don't even look at that."
The Cowboys haven't had a winning December since 1996, which happens to be when they last won a playoff game.
Jones doesn't want to think about what's happened in the past. He's anxious to see how the Cowboys will recover from this loss, which eliminated any room for error in the NFC East race.
"It's going to put that much more onus on us to play better and win some games," Jerry said. "This has nothing to do with trends, habits, as far as I'm concerned."
