Brandon Marshall reinstated, eligible for Denver Broncos' opener

The Denver Broncos reinstated Pro Bowl receiver Brandon Marshall from a team-imposed suspension Sunday.

Marshall was suspended Aug. 28 after a series of behaviors detrimental to the team. The final straw came when a Denver television station filmed Marshall walking when his teammates were running, punting a football in protest and swatting away balls during a passing frill during practice Aug. 26.

Marshall has asked for a pay raise and to be traded this summer. He missed more than a week with a hamstring injury and he was demoted to the scout team. Marshall said he didn't know new Denver coach Josh McDaniels' playbook even after he practiced several days.

The Broncos have quietly maintained that they would rather keep Marshall for this season than trade him. When he was suspended, the team said he would be eligible to come off suspension Sunday if his behavior improved.

Marshall is now eligible to play in Denver's season opener Sept.13 at Cincinnati. He did not play in any preseason game this season.
