Coach Jim Zorn had said Sunday that the Redskins likely would sign Bridges, who had looked impressive during his participation in the team's weekend minicamp as a free agent. The deal, however, was contingent on Bridges passing a physical exam, which he did.

Redskins head coach Jim Zorn has high expectations for the 2009 season.
Contract details were not available, but it is believed Bridges signed a one-year contract at or near the NFL minimum salary. The addition of Bridges affords the Redskins more depth on the offensive line, and the six-year veteran might compete for the starting job at right tackle.
Bridges has played right tackle in the past, and the position is unsettled for the Redskins, with Jon Jansen, Stephon Heyer, and Mike Williams all vying for the No. 1 job. Given his experience at the position, there is a good chance Bridges will be thrown into the mix.
At the very least, Washington has added experience, depth and flexibility on its line. Bridges could end up at right guard, where veterans Pete Kendall and Jason Fabini remain unrestricted free agents.
A sixth-round choice of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2003, Bridges has appeared in 62 games, with 39 starts, in stints with Philadelphia (2003); Arizona (2004-2006); and Carolina (2007-2008).
He started a total of 24 games in 2006-2007, including 14 starts for the Panthers in 2007.
Bridges was suspended for two games by the Panthers at the start of the 2007 season after he was convicted on a misdemeanor assault charge.
