Michalczik leaves UW to coach Raiders' O-line

Jim Michalczik, who left California to become Washington's offensive coordinator in mid-December, won't ever coach a game for the Huskies because he was hired by the Oakland Raiders on Monday to be their offensive line coach.

Tom Cable becomes the Raiders' head coach after serving as the interim coach last season.

Michalczik will work for new Raiders coach Tom Cable, a longtime friend.

It was considered a coup for new Huskies coach Steve Sarkisian when he lured Michalczik away from Cal with a three-year contract with $350,000 annually. Michalczik is widely considered one of the best offensive line coaches on the West Coast.

Michalczik's departure means the Huskies staff has two openings. Previously, Utah receivers coach Aaron Roderick accepted a Sarkisian offer to take the same post with the Huskies but then changed his mind.
