Jaguars react to the playoff lose to Ravens.
Florence received a six-year, $36.1 million contract that included a $3 million signing bonus and $6 million in bonuses and base pay in 2008. Porter signed a six-year, $30.4 million contract last year, earning $7.5 million in 2008.
Rather than bring them back, the Jaguars decided to part ways by cutting them after one season.
"In going through our personnel evaluations and roster analysis, we are making decisions that we believe will help improve our team for the 2009 season and beyond," general manager Gene Smith said.
Porter started only six games. He caught 11 passes for 181 yards. Florence started only eight games and didn't intercept a pass.
"Obviously, I endorsed them or we wouldn't have done them, so I'm not going to go back and second-guess what was done," team owner Wayne Weaver said last month. "We just have to learn from our mistakes and move on."
