Jaguars sign veteran free-agent safety Prioleau

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Jaguars signed free agent safety Pierson Prioleau on Wednesday and waived quarterback Lester Ricard.

Prioleau, entering his 10th season, spent the last three years with the Washington Redskins. He played 15 games in 2007, starting four and finishing with 38 tackles. He has 353 tackles, 5½ sacks and one interception in 113 career games with San Francisco, Buffalo and Washington.

Prioleau, who will be reunited with former Redskins and current Jaguars defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, will give Jacksonville some much-needed depth at safety.

Ricard spent all of last season on the practice squad and became expendable when the team signed undrafted rookie Paul Smith of Tulsa on Sunday.
