April 3 (Bloomberg) -- Jack Del Rio signed a five-year contract extension with the Jacksonville Jaguars after leading the National Football League team to the second round of the playoffs last season.
The team didn't disclose financial terms of the deal in a news release.
``If you look from 2004 through 2007, Jack has led this franchise to the sixth-best record in the National Football League and that's a great accomplishment,'' team owner Wayne Weaver said.
Del Rio, 44, has worked in the NFL for 23 years, including 11 as a linebacker, the longest playing career among active head coaches.
The Jaguars rank sixth in the NFL since 2004 with a 40-24 record and have advanced to the playoffs twice in the past three seasons. The team finished last season with an 11-5 record and beat Pittsburgh in the first round of the playoffs, its first postseason win since 1999.
